Wonderful Words for Kids

As kids grow up we start giving them fun words to play around with. These words may not be Indian in origin but they are beautiful to hear or talk about and that’s where this blog comes in today. Have you noticed that some words have beautiful sounding letters or some have that enigmatic appeal which can make you want to know more about those words. Here, today, you will be getting familiar with these words from around the world and we hope you will enjoy learning them with your kids too!

 

  1. Aurora – The dawn and it’s lights in the morning that make the atmosphere so surreal and beautiful
  2. Bhaat-Ghoom – It is a word for a satisfactory meal nap especially after having a heavy lunch of rice. It’s a Bengali word.
  3. Cafune – The tender way of caressing the loved one’s hair with the hand
  4. Dapjeaongneo – This one is a tongue twister and it means to answer someone with the answer they want to know
  5. Fernweh  – a kind of wanderlust
  6. Gigil – a feeling that’s overwhelming that comes out when we see something or someone cute

  8. Jolabokaflod – It is an icelandic word which means Christmas book flood. In Iceland, it is customary to gift each other books that are wrapped and to be opened on Christmas eve.
  9. Komorebi – the filtering of the sun’s rays from the leaves of a tree (especially when seen from the ground level)
  10. Mangata – a road like reflection of the moon on water surface
