Roots and Wings

We all have Roots and Wings. It is on you what you want to do with both.

With wings for achieving high goals, no matter how big or great we become; we’re always connected to your roots. You can’t leave it nor forget it.

That’s the real way to express oneself.

The underlying principle is the powerful urge to express, expand and evolve. This impulse is embedded in all of creation and is visible in every aspect of life: From the Big Bang of the ever-expanding universe, to evolution from gas to matter to mineral to plant to animal to early man to modern man.

From the incredibly rich diversity in nature, to the equally rich explosion of man’s ideas and inventions. From our deep belief in individual freedom as a fundamental human right, to our insatiable curiosity and fascination for the new. How do we as parents go about ingraining this to our children? In a world full of chaos, how can we set right what our kids need to do?

To understand our world, we must look at the earth from various vantage points. If we do so, we will see that the continents, countries and places are but a bridge linking the colorful, tropical world, whose strong ethnic and cultural bonds have been preserved to this day.

For any person who arrives in another place, neither the climate, nor the landscape, nor the food are similar but they’re fascinating. The strong undercurrents of social and cultural atmosphere reminds us of who we are and what we have become.

No matter where one goes, you will always find a way back home. Our roots, our culture, our ethnicity makes us explore worlds beyond our own and it’s pretty simple, we’re pulled to our roots.

The new emerging experiences of the people today is to get imbibed into the basics of their own culture and then explore the other cultures in a comparative context, thereby assimilating the world view . Cultural appropriation is on rise and though this doesn’t delve deeply into the cultural values but is slowly becoming a turning point to value art from cultures all over the world.

With cities evolving into smart, enabled, high tech and diverse, what remains to be seen is how fundamentally rooted they are into their local arts and culture.

The evolution of a city that balances its roots and yet rises itself to embracing the changing trends of the global standards.

A cluster of such cities can thereafter encourage others to follow suit, making it possible to dictate the way our children too are rooted and yet have wings. Art is not for art’s sake, it goes deep and beyond just design and color…. It becomes who we are and what we want to become.

So for kids to be able to connect to who they are, it is important to get them connected to the city they are living in or the place they are living in.

It is important to give them context and connectivity to understand the world of past and present. It is this mix of art, city’s places and people that children will learn to appreciate who they are and adults will gain a better perspective too.
